Khalid brings American Teen Down Under

Khalid, nineteen year old singer/songwriter from El Paso Texas debuted part of his American Teen Tour in Melbourne at Festival Hall, absolutely captivating the crowd every minute that he was on stage. 

Earlier in the day fans lined up to take pictures with a painted mural on LaTrobe Street of the star.

With millennial anthems like ‘Young Dumb and Broke’, ‘Saved’ and ‘8TEEN’, Khalid had the audience belting out every word to every song.

Khalid’s debut fifteen track album skyrocketed to international success after Kylie Jenner played his single ‘Location’ in one of her SnapChats. The singer telling the Melbourne crowd that ‘Location’ was the one song that changed his life forever. 

Khalid’s melodic, soulful vocals combined with alternative beats makes for overall, a refreshing sound that the singer says is inspired by the artists that he grew up listening to. 

‘I grew up listening to a lot of alternative music, American folk music, pop, indie - I love Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks is amazing.’ 

At just nineteen, Khalid commands and mesmerises an audience with ease, like a master with years of experience, singing songs that millennials can all relate to. It would not be a stretch to say that the Great Khalid, as he’s known to his followers, is quickly becoming one of the voices of this generation. 

This is only the start for the star, and we’re all on the edge of our seats waiting and watching to see what magic he conjures up next.
